Leadership Mainland is an opportunity to experience leadership development, community awareness and personal growth.

Leadership Mainland is a prestigious program committed to educating, training and motivating existing and emerging local leaders to build more effective skills for the future benefit of the greater Texas City-La Marque area. Leadership Mainland kicks-off in February with an overnight retreat with long sessions being held March- November 2024. A graduation celebration will take place in November.

Through an application process, 25 participants are chosen from an outstanding pool of leaders who apply for the program, representing the diversity of our area.

Program Goals:

  • To educate, train and provide experiences that enhance leadership skills.
  • To provide opportunities for participants to develop lasting relationships among community leaders.
  • To provide greater awareness of community issues and opportunities to serve locally.
  • To provide greater access to community resources and networking.
  • To motivate participants to help make a difference in our community by becoming actively involved.

As a Community Leader, you will:

  • Learn more about the key issues & problems facing our community.
  • Develop relationships with other influential leaders in the Galveston County/Mainland region.
  • Make a difference in the future of our community.
  • Develop & enhance your leadership skills.

Policies:

  • Leadership Mainland is designed to be a learning experience and requires attendance at each leadership class. The orientation meeting and Team Building Retreat are mandatory. More than two days of absence from other sessions will result in release from the program, with tuition being non-refundable.
  • Each participant must have the support and approval from his/her employer to participate.
  • Investment for the ten-month program is $1500, which can be paid by the individual and/or the employer. This fee covers all program expenses including printed materials, a custom shirt, meals, lodging and group transportation.
  • Each participant will be required to play an active and energetic role in each session.

Mission

Identify and assist citizens who want to learn more about the challenges facing the community, and to train, educate and motivate key employees for future leadership roles within the community. Activities include: Teambuilding Retreat, Trip to State Capitol, Law/Justice and County Government, Industry, Economic Development/Tourism, City Government, Education.
